With over seventeen years of experience, Angel Passailaigue Postell has a wide array of experience and knowledge in public relations, marketing and special event planning. Her specialty is travel and tourism and food and beverage industries, two unique niches promoting the hospitality industry, including hotels, attractions, destinations, restaurants and more.

Postell first served on the host steering committee for World Cup Soccer-Orlando in 1995, worked with Orlando’s largest Travel & Tourism Public Relations Firm, Yesawich, Pepperdine and Brown, and coordinated public relations efforts for hospitality and retail architects, Fugleberg Koch while living in Orlando, Florida from 1995-1997.

In 1997, Postell moved to Jacksonville, Florida and served as Communications Manager for the Jacksonville Convention & Visitors Bureau. While manager, Postell developed a national public relations campaign and generated coverage in national outlets including Sky Magazine, Meeting South, Destinations, the Tampa Tribune just to name a few. As part of the campaign, she organized a Grand Slam Media Familiarization Tour and the 1999 Millennium Art Tour. A respected leader in the community, she spearheaded a grassroots organization—Art Stop—whose mission was to develop, create and market an arts district in Jacksonville. This effort, which originally began with three volunteers, grew to hundreds of members, garnered political support and recognition and created strong board leadership and several committees all working towards this effort.

Soon after, Postell launched her own freelance consulting agency, Passailaigue Communications, and specialized in art and tourism clientele. One of her clients, Pedestrian, Inc., challenged her with assisting in the development and launch of an arts supply store, contemporary art gallery and real estate project development to serve artists and art-related businesses.

In April 2000, Postell moved to her hometown Charleston, South Carolina and became Public and Media Relations Manager at the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. At the CVB, Postell served as Media Coordinator for Tall Ships Charleston 2000 and was part of the PR Team for the H.L. Hunley Recovery. In October, she was recruited by the South Carolina Aquarium and joined shortly after as the Public Relations Manager.

As manager, Postell oversaw all media relations and community relations for the Aquarium. Over the years, she developed an aggressive public relations campaign and successfully increased awareness and enhanced the Aquarium’s image among local, regional and national media contacts. She worked closely with all departments, donors, partners, members and volunteers to promote the activities and accomplishments that are newsworthy. More specifically, she implemented, oversaw and evaluated the campaign, developed media events, prepared management reports, served as a spokesperson, counseled and prepared staff and handled all crisis communications efforts.In spring 2004, Postell opened Home Team Communications, Inc. a full-service, cost-effective communications firm specializing in the marketing and promotions of a variety of emerging businesses and organizations. Specifically, the company represented artists, retail establishments, restaurants, festivals and small professional businesses. Clients included the Distinctively Charleston Food + Wine Festival; Devereaux’s in Greenville, SC; McCrady’s, Sienna, Just Fresh Bakery Café & Market; Ted’s Butcherblock, and the South Carolina Seafood Alliance.

After a successful inaugural year in April 2005, the Charleston Food + Wine Festival’s Board of Directors hired Postell to serve as Executive Director. In this role, she handles all day-to-day management operations of the Festival, serves as the liaison between the Board of Directors, oversees accounting and financial details, coordinates volunteer programs, handles fundraising efforts, and assists with marketing and event planning initiatives.

Actively involved in the community, Postell served as Chair for the Southeast District of Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) and as Chair-Elect on the national PRSA Food + Beverage Section Board of Directors in 2009. In 2007, she served as the Past President for the South Carolina Chapter of PRSA and has served as President (2006), President-Elect (2005), Vice President (2004), Secretary (2003) and Lowcountry Regional Director (2002). She completed a two-year elected Board of Directors position in 2002 for PRSA’s Travel and Tourism Section. She served as PR Chair for the Advertising Federation of Charleston in 2005, and was the Public Relations Chair for Lowcountry AIDS Services’ Shopping with Friends in 2004 and 2005. Postell was also appointed to serve a two-year term on the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)’s PR Committee in 2003.

Postell is an active member of the Rotary Club of Charleston and serves on the Board of Directors.

A proud graduate of the University of Central Florida, Postell received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a special focus in Advertising/Public Relations. She passed the Examinations for Accreditation in Public Relations in 2005 and is Accredited by the Universal Accreditation Board for the internationally recognized accreditation program for Public Relations professionals, APR.

Postell recently celebrated her ninth year wedding anniversary to Charleston native Richard “Arnold” Postell II. Together, they reside in West Ashley and are the proud parents to two sons, Riley and Chase. They have two dogs, two turtles and several fish.
